Direct-WiFi is a mobile application that enables direct WiFi connection between two mobile devices without the need for router or services based on internet connection. Mobile devices can be manually connected by searching available devices nearby. The application is also designed to enable automatic connection between devices. There are many uses of this application – for example, when a visitor arrives at an airport or rail station, they can communicate with those waiting to pickup by directly chatting using text messages. They can also share sketches, send voice/video chat. All this doesn’t need any phone or internet connection and the connection is directly between the two devices! We love to hear your ideas to improve this further so keep in touch!.
Go to User Profile page by clicking the three bars at the Top left hand side and the picture. It will show the Name, Email ID, Device Name and Device Address. The Account Name and Device Name can be changed so that others can recognise you. Note these details are publicly made available. The Device Address can’t be changed. The password can be updated. The form is saved by clicking on the tick mark at the Top right hand side.
Enable WiFi in your mobile device and click on Available Devices from the menu option by clicking the three bars at the Top left hand side. All devices having Direct-WiFi app open will show up in the list. Click on the user you want to connect with and a pop-up message will appear in the other user’s screen. When they grant permission, the chat window will come up.
Both the users who want to directly connect have to be registered first. To check if the user is registered, click on the + symbol at the bottom of the Contacts page. Enter the Email ID of the person you want to connect and click on Check button. If the user is already registered, they will be added in the Contacts page. If not, you can send an Email to ask them join so that you can add them as contact.
Yes, you can remotely connect with another registered user and chat using text messages only. Both require internet connection for this. For example, if your contact is another country or far-away, you can both get connected prior to the travel and be prepared to meet when you both come in the range of WiFi (e.g. when you meet at the airport, rail station, etc). Once both of you are within the WiFi range, the Contact will become Green and you can click on Chat icon to open the conversation.
Click on the Screen button in the Contacts page for the chosen Contact. This will show the Welcome screen on a full page with Profile picture at the top and the Name of the contact in the middle. You can change the Profile picture (e.g. your company logo) as described above. The name of the Contact can be changed by swiping on the Contact to left.
Yes, swipe the selected contact to left and click on the Delete button.
Click on the three dots on the Top right hand side and click on Logout.
